There is something about spring that naturally brings a feeling of fresh energy. We start opening the windows, getting outdoors more and thinking about what we would like to change. I believe it is also a great time to do the same with our businesses.
By this stage of the year, many business owners are well into their routines. We are busy looking after customers, managing workloads, solving problems and getting through our never-ending to-do lists. Sometimes we become so busy working in our businesses that we forget to stop and ask ourselves where we are actually heading.
So, this spring, I encourage you to refresh, refocus and re-energise.
Refresh your business.
Take a fresh look at what you are doing. Are your website, Google Business Profile and marketing materials current? Are there services, processes or systems that could be improved? Ask your customers for feedback. A few small changes can sometimes make a significant difference.
Refocus your attention.
Think back to the goals you set earlier in the year. Are they still important to you? Have your priorities changed? Look at where you are spending your time and ask whether those activities are moving your business forward. We cannot do everything, and sometimes saying no to one thing gives us the space to focus properly on another.
Re-energise yourself.
This is one we often forget. The energy behind a business usually comes from the person running it. If you are constantly exhausted and overwhelmed, it eventually affects the business too. Take time to reconnect with what you enjoy about your business, celebrate what you have achieved and spend time with people who encourage you.
This is something I see regularly through our Hive Networking Groups. Getting out of your own business environment and talking with other business owners can bring a completely different perspective. A conversation can lead to a new idea, collaboration or solution you may not have considered.
