Have you ever driven into Brisbane to see a show, buy art, hear live music or attend a creative workshop, then discovered someone in Logan was doing the same thing?
We have a strange habit of treating “local” as a polite synonym for “beginner”. Somewhere along the way, distance became prestige. If it has a city postcode, a bigger venue or a bigger advertising budget, surely it must be better, right?
Except Logan keeps ruining that theory.
Our city has professional artists, performers, writers, dancers and makers producing work here. The talent isn’t missing. Sometimes, our knowledge of it is.
So here’s this month’s Creative Corner experiment: before you cross the Gateway for your next creative fix, give yourself five minutes to search Logan first.
Try “Logan live music”, “Logan artist”, “Logan author”, “Logan dance” or whatever you’re hunting. Follow one person or group that catches your attention.
And if you’re one of Logan’s creatives, make yourself easier to find. Put Logan in your bio, tag your location, tell people what you make and where they can see it. Don’t hide the magic.
If you need help becoming more visible, grab a consultation with Rhiannon and find out how to share your creative magic with this incredible city.
The more we know our own creatives, the easier everything else becomes: attending, recommending, collaborating, buying and bragging about them.
The goal isn’t to convince people Logan has local talent.
It’s to make them wonder how they missed it.
