Emmaus College is beaming with pride
following the remarkable success of two
dedicated educators at the Brisbane
Catholic Education (BCE) Excellence Awards
held on Friday, August 16. Corrie Goode and
William Goss have been recognized for their
outstanding contributions to teaching and
learning at Emmaus College.
Corrie Goode was awarded the prestigious
ACU Award for Excellence as an Early
Career Teacher in Secondary School. Corrie
exemplifies the values of hope and excellence
that are at the heart
of our College. She lives out our school motto,
“Walking with Christ,” and embodies the
spirit of the Emmaus story by fostering strong
relationships with her students. When a
learner struggles or makes a poor behavioural
choice, Corrie takes the time to restore the
relationship, modelling forgiveness, effective
interpersonal skills, and the essence of
pastoral care. It is a privilege to have Corrie
as part of our school community, and we
are immensely proud of her well-deserved
achievement.
William Goss received a Commendation
for The NGS Super Award for Excellence
in Learning and Teaching in Secondary
School. William’s exceptional commitment
to student outcomes, responsive teaching
practices, and collaborative learning sets
him apart as a true example of teaching
excellence. His approach is characterized
by a deep understanding of his students’
needs, a dedication to fostering a supportive
and inclusive learning environment, and a
profound commitment to the College’s values
and environmental stewardship. William’s
commendation is a testament to his relentless
pursuit of excellence in education.
The BCE Excellence Awards recognize the
exceptional ways in which staff support and
nurture student growth through teaching,
leading, and mentoring. This year, BCE
received an impressive 379 nominations
from across 101 schools and offices. Brisbane
Catholic Education Executive Director Dr.
Sally
Towns congratulated all the winners and
nominees, highlighting the significance of their
contributions in bringing BCE’s vision to life.
“Every day at BCE, we strive toward
our vision of being a faith-filled learning
community creating a better future,” Dr. Towns
said. “We place Jesus Christ at the centre of all
we do and work towards this vision in a myriad
of ways. Our staff are integral in our work
towards this vision. The Excellence Awards
are a fantastic way to highlight the exemplary
achievements of our people and showcase the
impactful and innovative programs, projects,
and scopes of work happening in our schools
and communities.”
