IF you’re a parent with young children and you’ve been thinking about making a change like getting your licence, studying, finding work, or simply figuring out what comes next the YFS Parent Pathways program might be exactly what you need.
The program, delivered by YFS across Logan and surrounding suburbs, is a voluntary, personalised support service for parents and carers with children under six.
It’s free, it’s flexible, and it’s built entirely around you.
What does it offer?
Parent Pathways offers one-on-one support from a dedicated mentor.
That mentor works alongside you to understand your goals, whatever they are, and to help you take the practical steps to get there.
Those steps might look like renewing an online training course to get your learner’s licence. Applying for a police check or Blue Card before a job placement. Navigating Centrelink. Sourcing childcare. Or simply sitting with someone who listens, helps you think things through, and believes in what you can do.
There’s no fixed program to follow and no checklist you have to tick off.
Parent Pathways is parent-led, which means the pace, the priorities, and the path forward are yours to set.
No pressure, no judgement
YFS understands that life with young children is unpredictable. Circumstances change, progress isn’t always linear, and sometimes the most important thing a mentor can do is show up, consistently, reliably, and without judgement.
“I have people that, when they first come through, they lack a lot of confidence and direction,” says Misiafa Fitisemanu, a Senior Mentor at Parent Pathways.
“Sometimes even achieving the smallest things, things that may seem insignificant to some, can make the biggest difference and give them that boost to take the next step. Some of the parents I work alongside call me just to celebrate these small wins. Often they just need someone to listen.”
Real results, right here in Logan
Since opening its doors, Parent Pathways has helped more than 700 Logan parents achieve things that once felt out of reach.
One mum of three gained her learner’s licence, enrolled in a Certificate III, and started a job at an aged care facility, all within a matter of months. Another parent, studying while managing the aftermath of Tropical Cyclone Alfred, was connected to housing support that enabled her keep going.
These stories are not unusual. They’re what happens when people are given the right support at the right time, by someone who genuinely cares about their future.
Who is it for?
Parent Pathways is open to parents and carers with children under six, not currently in paid employment and receiving Centrelink payments across Logan and surrounding suburbs.
You don’t need to have a plan before you contact us, figuring out the plan together is part of what we do.
