For more than 55 years, Woodridge North State School has grown alongside its community, becoming a place where cultures meet, families connect and children are encouraged to discover just how far they can go.
EVERY morning, hundreds of children stream through the gates of Woodridge North State School carrying backpacks, lunchboxes, different languages, different stories and dreams of what their futures might hold.
In one of Logan’s most culturally diverse communities, Woodridge North has grown to become much more than simply a place for reading, writing and arithmetic.
Opened in 1969, the school has evolved alongside the suburb around it, becoming a place where education, early childhood learning, family support and community connection come together across a sprawling eight-hectare site in the heart of Woodridge.
Today, the Prep to Year 6 school is home to 458 students and led by principal Michael McMahon, with its classrooms reflecting the remarkable mixture of cultures, languages and family experiences found throughout the wider community.
The school’s motto, “Strive to Excel”, captures a simple ambition to give every child the opportunity to succeed, regardless of where they begin their educational journey.
And increasingly, that journey begins before a child ever pulls on a school uniform.
Woodridge North has developed into something of a community precinct, with a Community Hub and C&K kindergarten located on site, allowing families to build connections with education long before the first day of Prep.
Four straightforward expectations underpin everyday life at Woodridge North: be safe, be responsible, be respectful and be a learner.
There is also plenty of room to learn beyond the traditional classroom with Woodridge North’s leafy, park-like grounds stretching across eight hectares, with sporting fields and courts, established gardens and a modern multi-purpose community hall providing space for children to play, compete, explore and connect.
