Ageing gracefully? Not Mick Jagger. Ageing outrageously is more his style. At 80 years young in 2025, the Rolling Stones frontman still struts across stages with more energy than most blokes a quarter his age. Wrinkled? Sure. Slowing down? Not a chance.
Born in Dartford, Kent in 1943, Michael Philip Jagger wasn’t always the swaggering sex symbol of rock ‘n’ roll. The son of a teacher, he went to the London School of Economics—before ditching finance for fame. Thank heavens. In 1962, he and Keith Richards formed a little blues band, borrowing their name from a Muddy Waters track, “Rollin’ Stone.” The rest is rock history.
Hits? Take your pick: “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” “Paint It Black,” “Start Me Up,” “Angie,” “Jumpin’ Jack Flash.” Their 1978 album Some Girls was a monster, and their best-selling record Hot Rocks 1964–1971 still flies off shelves. Not bad for a bunch of lads who never planned to last more than a decade.
And let’s talk dancing. Jagger’s signature shimmy, flailing arms and rubbery knees inspired Maroon 5’s “Moves Like Jagger” in 2011. Not bad for a granddad of eight.
Speaking of family, Mick’s love life is as legendary as his lyrics. He’s had eight children with five women, been married once (to Bianca in the ‘70s), and romanced everyone from Jerry Hall to ballerina Melanie Hamrick. (Yes, she’s 43 years younger—no judgment.)
His secret to vitality? He credits clean eating, daily workouts, and cutting back on the wild living. Longevity runs in the blood too—his dad Joe lived to 93.
Biggest crowd? That would be the 2006 Copacabana Beach concert in Rio, where 1.5 million fans shook their hips in the sand. That’s a lot of samba with your rock.
So here’s to Mick—octogenarian, icon, and proof that you really can get satisfaction… even at 80. Long may he wiggle.
